BOISE -- Two men and three children missing east of Boise for about 24 hours this weekend have been found safe, according to Boise police.
Officers say the party became stranded when their vehicle got stuck in a snowbank Saturday afternoon somewhere in the vicinity of Lucky Peak and Arrowrock Dam.
All five apparently spent the night in the stuck vehicle.
The group set out the next morning to get help, eventually finding an occupied cabin near the small community of Prairie, Idaho.
One man estimated the group walked 19 miles to find the cabin. Police say the group used a phone there to contact family and arrange transportation home.
Police identified them as 38-year-old John Julian; his two children, 8-year-old Samantha and 7-year Isaac; 34-year-old William Murkle and his 10-year-old daughter, Megun. Both families are from Boise.
Authorities say Initial search efforts were complicated because the group did not say exactly where they were headed.
Police say the men and kids are tired, but otherwise okay.
