LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. -- The remains of fallen West Linn firefighter John Percin Jr. will arrive Wednesday in a private plane and be taken to the main Lake Oswego fire station before a Saturday memorial service.
Percin, a 2007 graduate of West Linn High School, died along with 18 of his hotshot crewmates when they were trapped by a wildfire in late June outside Yarnell, Ariz.
The urn will be accompanied on the flight from Arizona by family members and an honor guard, said Karen Eubanks, spokeswoman for Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue.
The remains will be taken to the Lake Oswego station at 300 B Avenue by private transport. Local firefighters wishing to honor Percin can gather on streets near the station for an arrival expected between noon and 1 p.m.
The public can pay their respects on Thursday at the fire station from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., said Eubanks.
A public memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at Rolling Hills Church in Tualatin.
