A man was killed inside an apartment following a standoff with Seattle SWAT Friday morning.
The standoff at Bellevue Avenue E. and Denny way started around 3 a.m. Police say neighbors claimed they saw a man with a gun and heard a shot. He allegedly came out with a cell phone and a gun.
During the standoff, the man called TV stations including KING5 News. He said he did nothing wrong and that he thought one of his neighbors got scared after seeing him with a gun. He cited his Second Amendment right to own a gun and said he was afraid he was going to be put in jail for practicing that right.
Seattle police tweeted at 11:55 a.m. that the officer-involved shooting was a confirmed fatality and that no officers were injured. However, it's not confirmed whether the fatal gunshot wound was by police or if it was self-inflicted.
