BELLEVUE, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is under investigation by the Bellevue Police Department for an alleged assault and property damage over the weekend. But there are still many unanswered questions.
Bellevue police made the unusual move to report they received a report from a woman who said Lynch assaulted her and damaged her property. Bellevue police made the announcement through a short one-page press release.
The incident allegedly happened at 2:30 a.m. Sunday at Lynch's downtown Bellevue apartment, but police said the woman made a complaint at the Bellevue City Hall emergency speaker 12 hours after the alleged incident.
Bellevue police said a detective was assigned to the case Monday morning and was gathering facts, including whether Lynch was actually involved.
Bellevue police acknowledged they had not even spoken with the football star before sending out the press release. Bellevue Police Department will only say the allegation does not involved domestic violence or sexual assaults and no arrests have been made.
Lynch could not be reached for comment. The Seahawks and Lynch are expected back at practice Tuesday.
