SPOKANE, Wash. -- Chad Pratt pleaded guilty on Wednesday to the shooting death of 20-year-old Ciara Hardin. Pratt entered his plea before a packed courtroom.
The 20-year-old faces between 21 and 27 months in prison for the December shooting.
Pratt faced a second-degree manslaughter charge in the death. Police said Pratt admitted to accidentally shooting Hardin at a house party along West Newark Road. Court documents showed that Pratt kept saying 'the gun went off' when he was showing it off.
Other people at the house party told police that Pratt moved the gun from the holster on his right hip at least two times prior to the shooting that killed Ciara.
Pratt was drinking when the gun went off, according to Spokane police. Investigators determined Pratt was negligent.
