SPOKANE, Wash. -- Bloomsday organizers say they will be addressing security concerns because of the bombings at the Boston Marathon.
Organizers said they will be working the Spokane Police Department, the Spokane County Sheriff and federal agencies to plan for the event.
Retired Spokane Police Bomb Unit Commander, Al Odenthal, head safety and security for Bloomsday. He say organizers have had a longstanding relationship with all law enforcement agencies.
We plan for mass casualty events, said Odenthal, We plan for interventions or obstructions to the course or to the participants.
Officials said they will make changes that are advised to ensure a safe experience for participants and spectators but will not make details of their plan public.
Bloomsday will be held in a couple weeks.
