Former Seattle Mariners manager Lou Piniella was inducted into the Mariners Hall of Fame on Saturday prior to the game against the Chicago White Sox.

Piniella led the Mariners to 840 regular season wins.

On hand for the ceremony were Mariners Hall of Fame members Jay Buhner, Edgar Martinez and Dan Wilson.

Piniella fought back tears as fans serenaded him with chants of Louuuu.

I loved my 10 years here, he said.

He called 1995 the defining season in Mariners baseball.

Refuse to lose, I remember it like yesterday, he said. And 2001, a magical season ... 116 wins, I don't think that'll ever be done in baseball again. That does pretty good for a manager's record.

I'm very proud of the things we accomplished here, the playoffs, the division titles, the record attendance, this beautiful ballpark. But truthfully, a manager is only as good as the people he works with and the people he works for and I have so many people to thank for my success.

Also in the Hall of Fame are Ken Griffey Jr., Randy Johnson and Alvin Davis, as well as broadcaster Dave Niehaus
