ONTARIO, Oregon -- Officials have reopened a 167-mile stretch of Interstate 84 westbound Tuesday shortly after 9:30 a.m.
The announcement comes after the Oregon Department of Transportation closed westbound lanes of Interstate 84 from Ontario to Pendleton just after 5 a.m. due to a crash and semi blocking both lanes.
The eastbound lanes were also closed around 6:20 a.m. by numerous crashed vehicles that need to be removed, including several semi trucks, plus icy and foggy conditions
Authorities ask drivers to remain cautious in the area due to potentially changing weather conditions.
All vehicles are currently required to use chains or traction tires in areas between Pendleton and La Grande. If possible, motorists are encouraged to postpone travel until conditions improve.
