YELLOW PINE, Idaho -- Two planes have crashed north of the Johnson Creek Airstrip leaving one person dead and several injured, according to the Valley County Sheriff's Department.

The crash was said to have happened at 9:58 a.m.

Deputies say four people were aboard the two planes, and at this time there has been one confirmed fatality.

The Valley County Sheriff's Department, Cascade Ambulance, and several rescue helicopters were dispatched to the scene.

NTSB investigators are said to be en route to the scene.

Steve Grant works for the Idaho Transportation Department, Division of Aeronautics. Grant says the report came in about 10:55 a.m.

It was reported that two aircraft were on the ground ... near the north end of the runway, Grant said.

I can tell you the airstrip covers about 40 acres, is about 3,400-feet long, 150-feet wide, and this happened in the last 500 feet of the airstrip, Grant told KTVB.
