PORTLAND -- Police have asked for the public's help finding 73-year-old career con man Nickolas Kasemehas, a Portland police spokesman said.

Kasemehas (pictured, above) has a long list of aliases and is a career con man, beginning in 1962. He was released from prison in September 2012 and immediately began conning victims in the Salem area, said Sgt. Pete Simpson. Kasemehas has also been frequenting the Portland area.

He has a long history of scams related to gold, jewelry and loans, and his criminal activity extends to San Francisco, Utah, Denver, Chicago, Seattle and many other smaller cities, Simpson said.

Kasemehas was described as white, 5-foot-9, 175 lbs, with gray/brown hair, brown eyes, and in very good physical shape, Simpson said. Kasemehas also reportedly has an expensive daily cigar habit.

He is wanted by police on first-degree aggravated theft charges. Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911. Anyone with non-emergency information about him is asked to email detective Liz Cruthers.
