MOLALLA -- A woman suspected of stabbing a man stole a Clackamas County sheriff's office patrol car early Friday morning, crashing it after a short chase.

The 33-year-old man who was stabbed was airlifted to a hospital. His name and condition were not available. The woman who stole the car was not hurt, said Sgt. Adam Phillips.

Deputies were dispatched about 1 a.m. Friday to the 16800 block of South Howards Mill Road to a reported stabbing. Minutes later, a deputy enroute saw a patrol car racing in the other direction, Phillips said.

With a quick exchange on the radio of the stolen car, deputies knew it had been stolen, Phillips said.

The woman lost control and crashed near Oregon 213 and Molalla Road.

Tara Axmaker, 25, of Milwaukie was accused of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and felony attempt to elude, Phillips said. The incident remains under investigation and may lead to additional charges, he said.
