Travelers are running into a snowy day on Mount Hood.

Cascade passes are buried under snow and difficult driving is likely through this afternoon as the snow level holds near 2,000 feet. The National Weather Service has a Winter Weather Advisory in effect through 7:00 pm.

As of 11:00 this morning, four-to-seven inches of snow had fallen. Snow totals through this afternoon of six-to-12 inches are now likely.

Winds are blowing snow at pass level to 25 mph. Early morning gusts at 7,000 feet reached 80 mph.

Travel conditions will improve tonight as the snow tapers off into flurries. Dry weather is likely Tuesday.

The next news on the mountain will be high snow levels developing Thursday and lasting into the weekend. Friday and Saturday could see snow levels reach 8,000 feet as March begins with mild temperatures.
