If you're planning on dressing up like a scuba diver tonight for Halloween, you picked the right costume. A whole lot of rain will be dumping on WesternWashington today and into Thursday.

Downpours can be expected at times, with anywhere from 1 to 6 inches of rain falling over the next 24 hours depending on where you live.

For those in the Puget Sound area, we're expecting about 1 to 3 inches of rain throughout the day. Heavier rain can be expected in the convergence zone.

Those who live closer to the coast can expect a little more rain -- about 2 to 4 inches. And people living along the Cascades orOlympic Mountains will see the most rain, around 3 to 6 inches.

The sudden burst of rain also brings the risk of flooding.

The Stillaguamish, Nooksack and Skykomish rivers are all at flood stage as of Tuesday morning. The Snoqualmie and the Nisqually rivers are also nearing flood stage.

Mason County is under a flood warning. King, Snohomish, Pierce, Skagit and Whatcom counties are under a flood watch.

The rainfall in the lowlands also could cause street flooding in poorly drained areas or where storm drains are covered by leaves.

Standing water on freeways and highways is also a problem when a large amount of rain falls. Washington State Patrol troopers advise drivers to take their time and increase following distance between cars.
