BOISE -- The Idaho Transportation Department has closed all lanes of westbound Interstate 84 east of Boise after a vehicle caught fire and ignited some nearby grass.

The highway is closed at mile post 66, between exit 64 (Black's Creek Road) and exit 71 (Mayfield Road). That's about six miles east of Boise. Traffic is backed up for miles.

The Stage Stop on-ramp is also being shut down until further notice.

Boise Fire Chief Dennis Doan sent out several updates via Twitter. He says fire crews are on scene. According to the battalion chief, it appears that a vehicle rollover sparked the grass near the interstate.

The person is out of the vehicle. There are no injuries to report.

However, the fire is spreading quickly in dry grass and causing visibility issues for those traveling along the interstate. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
