BOISE -- A mother and her baby were taken to the hospital, and a Boise woman was arrested after a three-vehicle crash on Chinden Boulevard Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 3:40 p.m. just west of Five Mile Road near the entrance to Hewlett Packard.
Witnesses said the a driver of a Jeep Cherokee, 40-year-old Sharon Walbridge, was eastbound and rear ended a Nissan SUV, which forced the Nissan into oncoming westbound traffic on Chinden. The Nissan was the broadsided by a westbound Ford pickup.
The mother anda baby girlwere in the Nissan. The doors of their vehicle had to be cut off before firefighters could free them from the vehicle. Both we transported to Saint Alphonsus, treated and released. The girl was restrained in a child safety seat.
The accident caused police to close the westbound lanes of Chinden between Five Mile and Cloverdale roads.The roadwas reopened again around 5 p.m.
Garden City Police said Walbridge was involved in a hit and run accident in Garden City shortly before 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.
She was arrested at the scene of the second accident and charged with felony counts of aggravated driving under the influence, injury to a child and a misdemeanor charge of leaving the scene of an accident.
