COEUR d ALENE, Idaho Investigators said a teenage boy murdered his father and brother in an attack near N. 1st Street and Spokane Avenue Monday night.
Authorities said the teen, Eldon G. Samuel III, 14, was expected to be charged as an adult in the case.
Police said the attack occurred at a home around 9:30 p.m. Officers found the two people dead when they arrived at the scene.
The victims were identified as Eldon Gail Samuel Jr., 46, and Jonathan Samuel, 13. According to police, both victims had recently relocated to Coeur d Alene from California.
Authorities said the suspect used a handgun, shotgun, knife and machete in the attack on his father and brother. Samuel III was taken into custody Monday night, according to officers, and was booked on two counts of First Degree Murder. The teen was being held without bond.
A spokesperson with Coeur d'Alene schools said a family in the district was involved in the tragedy, but further details were not being released.
Police were still investigating the shooting for motive late Monday night.
Officials removed the bodies from the scene early Tuesday morning.
The executive director of North Idaho's St. Vincent de Paul told KREM 2 News the home where the shooting took place was one of the organization's emergency housing program units. He said in St. Vincent de Paul's 68-year history in the area, they had never seen anything like this in one of their homes.
It's very sad, the director said.
The teenage suspect was expected to make an initial court appearance Tuesday afternoon.
