Bone was hired in 2009, and had two years left on his contract.

In the fifth year of his seven-year contract, Bone was aware of the uncertainty surrounding his job. Even though Bone will not return for the 2014-2015 season, WSU will reportedly owe him $1.7 million under the terms of his contract.

WSU s Athletic Director Bill Moss said he told Bone the school would be making a change Tuesday.

We need to revitalize our fan base... [and] position this program to compete for championships, Moss said in a release.

Moss also said he appreciated Bone's time in Pullman and thanked Bone for his service to the school.
