VALE, Ore. -- A one-year-old boy is dead after a fire broke out in a mobile home in Vale, Ore., Monday night.

The fire occurred at the Treasure Valley Mobile Home Park at 11:30 p.m.

The parents made it out of the home and a neighbor rescued one child, but was not able to rescue the toddler.

Malheur County Sheriff Brian Wolfe says after the neighbor made it out with one child, he tried to get to the back of the home to rescue the one-year-old, but the flames and smoke were too strong.

Once the fire department arrived, they did extinguish the fire and found the child. Investigators are on scene right now trying to determine the cause of the fire.
