SPOKANE, Wash. - Icy roads greeted drivers Monday morning around the Inland Northwest.
Light snow froze on to many roads overnight, creating a compact ice on roads throughout the area. By 6:45 a.m. most arterials in the City of Spokane were in decent shape, but side roads were icy.
No major wrecks were reported.
Here's a brief roundup of some of the crashes from Monday morning: single car crash northbound on Hayford just north of Northern Quest Casino, a semi crash into a truck on 3rd and Division, single car crash west of Craig Road on Highway 2 in Airway Heights, car hits parked car at Nine Mile & Rifle Club Road, and a rollover in the Medical Lake area.
Crews spread de-icer and sand throughout the West Plains area of Spokane County where roads were particularly icy after 4 a.m. Monday.
The City of Spokane reported crews were out deicing and sanding, concentrating on hills and intersections on arterials. Night crews stayed late to improve the morning commute today.
Freezing fog was also a problem early Monday with the biggest problem reported in the Pullman and Moscow area with less than one-quarter mile visibility.
