The small town of Langley turned out in force Thursday to honor former Seattle Mayor Paul Schell.

Schell died unexpectedly July 27, just as he and his wife were moving into their new home along the Langley waterfront.

Thursday's celebration included a New Orleans style procession through the streets of town.

His wife Pam took center stage in the farewell festivities.

Organizers chose not to call this a funeral procession, but instead a send off.

Paul Schell was 76 years old.
