PORTLAND -- More than 11,000 runners took to the streets for the third annual Rock n Roll Portland Half Marathon Sunday morning.

Despite the rain, runners were in great spirits as they ran the 13.1 half marathon and 10K courses.

The races kicked off at 8 a.m. Race officials said roads would be closed and traffic would be affected through 12:45 p.m.

Major road closures included W Naito Pkwy from SW Columbia to NW 17th Ave, SE Hawthorne Boulevard from SE 8th Avenue to SE 12th Avenue, and westbound to 37th Ave, SE 37h Avenue from SE Hawthorne Boulevard to SE Oak Street, and NE Lloyd Boulevard from NE 16th Drive to NE Oregon Street.

Freeways were not affected but off-ramps and on-ramps near the race were closed.

Race officials said the event was expected to bring in more than $11 million in economic impact as part of the Portland Rose Festival.
