Everett police have arrested a burglary suspect near the 3800 block of Wetmore Avenue after the man barricaded himself inside a home and threatened to detonate a grenade.

Police said officers responded to a burglary in progress at a home. When they arrived, they saw a man quickly walk out and quickly back in the home.

Police realized he wasn't supposed to be in the home, so they entered the home to make contact with the man.

The man responded to police by saying he had a grenade and wasn't afraid to use it.

Officers said they never saw a grenade, but they heard his threats and backed off. Officers tried to talk with him over a loudspeaker.

Meanwhile, police evacuated the area. SWAT and canine teams were also at the scene.
