SALEM -- Students and teachers at North Salem High School are mourning the loss of a teacher who was killed in a crash on Highway 22 west of Salem Friday morning.

English teacher Emily Campbell was killed in a three-vehicle crash that injured two others.

The Salem Statesman Journal reports that Campbell was 8 months pregnant with her first child and due to give birth in April.

The crash was reported just before 8 a.m. near the junction of Highway 51, said Lt. Gregg Hastings of the Oregon State Police.

A westbound pickup truck veered into the eastbound lanes and crashed into an SUV and a car, Hastings said. Campell was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the other vehicles were taken to Salem Hospital with injuries that weren't thought to be life-threatening.

The eastbound lanes were closed for four hours while the crash was being investigated.

The Salem-Keizer School District said while spring break has begun, grief counselors will be on hand at the school Monday morning starting at 10 a.m.
