Seattle Police report at least one person has been critically injured in an explosion at a motel on Aurora Avenue N.

The explosion blew the door off one room and damaged another at the Klose In Motel in the 9300 block of Aurora Avenue North. Medics transported a man in his 40s to the Harborview Medical Center burn unit with critical injuries.

Seattle Fire Department tweeted the blast was a natural gas explosion. Damage was estimated at $50,000.

The motel was evacuated and the gas line to the building has been turned off as a precaution. Firefighters were also assessing the structural integrity of the building.

Seattle Fire Department said at least 41 people were displace in the explosion.The Red Cross was helping provide temporary housing for those residents.
