Interstate 90 Snoqualmie Pass was reopened Monday afternoon after being closed late Sunday night due to fallen trees, heavy snow and avalanche concerns.

The closure went into effect at 9:45 p.m. Sunday. The road was reopened at about 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Traction tires were recommended and the DOT said there was a chance the road would have to be closed again for avalanche work.

State troopers said there were multiple trees down near milepost 38 in North Bend. Traffic was stopped near Ellensburg at milepost 106 to give drivers more options for food and lodging.

KING5 Meteorologist Rich Marriott said 15 inches of new snow had fallen at Snoqualmie Pass in 24 hours ending Monday morning.

Stevens Pass reported about 20 inches of new snow. The pass remained open as of 11 a.m. Monday.
