SUMNER, Wash. -- Police in Sumner are asking for the public's help in finding information in a fatal hit-and -run on the East Valley Highway on Saturday, October 5.

The hit-and-run happened just before 11:00 pm Saturday. Rachel Givens, 23, was trying to cross the East Valley Highway in the 2700 block near the Log Cabin Tavern when she was struck by a car. The vehicle left the scene heading north on the highway.

Givens was transported to Tacoma General Hospital, where she later died.

Police released surveillance video that may help the public identify the vehicle involved. The video shows the vehicle, described as a dark sedan or sports car, traveling from the left to the right across the screen on the East Valley Highway. Police say the vehicle will have front-end damage and possibly a damaged windshield.

Police also hope that witnesses in another vehicle near the scene will contact police. That second vehicle (not seen in the video) is described as a silver Subaru Outback, It was driving southbound on the East Valley Highway.

Sumner Police announced on Monday that an anonymous donor is offering $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, prosecution and conviction of the subject of the investigation.
