BOISE -- Idaho Power says they reached a record high on Monday, for overall electricity usage during peak hours.

They say the new record comes with multiple over-100-degree temperature days forcing more field irrigation and more air conditioner usage.

Taking an average of electricity used at peak-hours, Idaho Power reports 3,402 megawatts were used on July 1. It beat the record high of 3,245 megawatt usage set July 12, 2012.

Idaho Power says the peak-time was between 3 and 4 p.m. on Monday.

They also tell us that Monday may not be the record for long, with continuing high temperatures during the day and not very much cool down at night.
