CASCADE -- Embattled Cascade Mayor Dick Carter says he will step down one week from Friday.

Carter, who is the subject of a recall and accused of sexual harassment by some women in town, submitted a letter of resignation to the City of Cascade late Friday afternoon, just before the close of business.

In his letter, Carter, who has served a mayor since 2006, says he hurt by the divisiveness of the citizenry and feels it is the best interest to resign so the town can pull together.

His resignation will become effective on Friday, March 8 at 5 p.m.
