PORTLAND -- Waves of snow showers will be possible all day and into the evening Monday, as a large high pressure system continues to take hold on the Portland Metro area.

The snow showers have been all over, from Hillsboro to Portland to Canby to Kelso, said KGW Meteorologist Nick Allard. I expect at least more flurries for the rest of the day. In fact, the showers may increase a little as we head into the afternoon and evening hours.

But he said it wasn't likely that a significant amount of snow would accumulate.

Temperatures remained quite chilly Monday afternoon and were not expected to push past 40 degrees until Thursday. Allard said even a little fog could be dangerous if combined with freezing and below-freezing temps.

If you see any fog please assume there will be ice, he warned. Also be careful on bridges and overpasses because there could be some pockets of ice.

Allard said cloudy skies were trapping the cold air in the Willamette Valley, but a strong east wind should move the clouds out Wednesday, bringing temperatures up and maybe even some sunshine.
