Investigators said Marcus Rael led multiple-agencies on a chase on Interstate 90 Sunday after a traffic stop near 20th and Sherman. Officials said spike strips were put in place but Rael stopped his car and began exchanging gunfire with law enforcement.
Authorities said officers and deputies from the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, Coeur d'Alene Police Department, Post Falls Police and Idaho State Police were involved in the shooting near the Spokane Street overpass on I-90. Rael was taken to Kootenai Health and was later listed in stable condition, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office.
All the officers, deputies and the trooper involved were placed on paid administrative leave.
