TROUTDALE -- Police responded shortly after 8 a.m. to a report of shots fired at Reynolds High School.

Police confirmed about 9:20 a.m. that a shooter in the incident was dead.

A number of emergency vehicles have been staged near the school. A significant number of officers have arrived and surround the school.

A Multnomah County sheriff's office spokesman confirmed the response was for an active shooter.

A student tweeted that the school is in lockdown and a number of police cars have rolled up. A second student has tweeted that she heard gunfire. A third reported a police officer racing towards the school's gymnasium.

SWAT teams were working their way through the school, releasing students from classrooms who are leaving with their hands over their heads.

LIfeflight landed near the school but has yet to tranport a patient.

A parent, Dawn, told KGW that her son Josiah was safe, but knew nothing of the situation.

I just heard he was okay but he doesn't know what's going on. I just want to see him to make sure he's okay. To personally see him. I'm scared. I just don't know what to do. I didn't know where to go. Ijust came here. Some people got texts. Some didn't. So we just wait.
