PORTLAND Portland police are looking for help to identify a woman seen kicking, slapping and pushing her child at the Oregon Zoo on Wednesday afternoon.

A caller told police that she was near the penguin exhibit when she saw a woman in her mid-20s yelling profanities at a small child then kick the child in the side, knocking her to the ground. The witness said the child seemed to be a 3-year-old girl.

The witness said the woman followed the child and smacked her on the side of the head, knocking her to the ground again, and later pushing her into a cement wall.

The woman is described as a white female in her mid-20s, 5-foot 6, weighing about 160 pounds, blonde hair, wearing a dark-colored puffy jacket and dark-colored pants.

The victim was wearing a purple jacket and pink pants.

The Portland Police Bureau Child Abuse Team asked anyone with information to call the (503) 823-0090.
