MT. HOOD -- A rescue effort is underway for a man and his injured dog on Mt. Hood.

Emergency dispatchers were called at around 3:45 p.m. on a report of the dog injured in the area of Zig Zag Canyon, about three miles away from Timberline Lodge. Around 30 minutes later, emergency crews received a follow-up call that the man got stuck on an embankment trying to rescue the dog.

Rescue crews from the Clackamas Co. Sheriff's Office and Portland Mountain Rescue are en route to bring the man and dog to safety. They're believed to be doing well, but they may be in treacherous terrain.
