BOISECOUNTY -- Snow plows are trying to push a hole through a mountain of snow that's fallen on Highway 21.

The snow closed a 12-mile stretch of the road known as Avalanche Alley.

The Idaho TransportationDepartment is reporting 20 avalanches fell on the highway from Thursday through the weekend. Those avalanches prompted the closure of Highway 21 between Grandjean Road and the Custer - Boise County line.

At last check, ITD has been able to plow about two-thirds of the way through.
