BOISE -- Boise Police are searching for a rape suspect they consider to be armed and dangerous.

The alleged rape happenedaround 8 p.m Tuesday at the Rodeway Inn at 1115 North Curtis Road near St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.

Officers say awoman was heldat knifepoint and raped by a man she knew.

The owner of the hotelsaid he and his wifewere at the hotel last night whenan extremely distraught woman came down to the lobby and told them what happened. He said the cops arrived within minutes to investigate.

Police searched the hotel room, but the suspect was gone.

The rape suspect is described asa dark skinned man in his 30s. He is 5-feet-4 inches tall and approximately 145 pounds. The suspect is a transient and known to have stayed at local shelters.

Policehave called local shelters, but have not been able to locate the suspect.
