SEATTLE - Seattle's new professional soccer team is eyeing homegrown talent.
The Seattle Sounders FC hosted the second of three open tryouts Saturday and more than 300 people participated.
The tryouts are called "Sounders Super Search." They'll be part of a reality TV show that airs on KING 5 February 1 after the Superbowl. The winner will be announced on the TV show.
Some came from far outside the city limits for Saturday's tryouts in Seattle.
Coaches kept a watchful eye for those good enough to be named finalists. They'll join three people already tapped after tryouts in Spokane. Three more finalists will come from Yakima.
Oliver Wellman made the cut.
"I'm pretty happy for a moment," Wellman said. "It's not done yet. Got to shift gears and re-focus."
Out of the top nine finalists, whoever wins will join the ranks of new Sounders club. They'll practice and take the field alongside international playmakers like Freddie Ljungberg.
For some, this is their last chance at pro soccer.
"Definitely when I heard there was an open tryout I had to do it," Erik Sterling said "This is my last go around, 25 years old. I have to go out and give it my all."
The third and final Sounders Super Search tryout will be in Yakima on Nov. 22.
