Seattle voters: Strippers, yes; Sonics no

SEATTLE - Strippers were winners and Sonics were losers in voting in Seattle.
City voters rejected an attempt to restrict strip clubs.
They voted down rules that city council had imposed to require dancers to stay at least four feet from patrons. That was an attempt to stop lap dancing.
Voters approved an initiative that heads off a taxpayer subsidy for renovating the Key Arena for the Sonics. Initiative 91 requires that the city receive at least fair market value for any taxpayer investment in the arena.
Chris Van Dyk of "Citizens for More Important Things" says the Sonics should pay their own way.
Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels says the vote makes it "very difficult if not impossible to keep the Sonics in Seattle."
New team owners from Oklahoma City say they need an agreement on a "world class" facility within a year or they'll look at moving the franchise. The owners are looking at potential sites in the Seattle area, including Bellevue.
Voters in Seattle and King County also voted on sales and property tax increases for roads and transit. Those results are still close.
