American Idol finalist from Bothell comes home

American Idol finalist Blake Lewis of Bothell performs for fans in Seattle Friday.

SEATTLE – The other American Idol finalist from Western Washington – the one who is still in the competition and isn't named Sanjaya - is back home for a quick stop to perform for his fans.

Blake Lewis, the beat boxer from Bothell, is making the rounds of Puget Sound, showing off the chops that has put him in the final three of the show that turns Average Joes and Janes into nationwide stars overnight.

Lewis performed for about 200 people at Seattle's Westlake Park Friday afternoon.

After that, it's off to his hometown of Bothell for a parade and another concert.

He's also set to sing the national anthem at Safeco Field before the Seattle Mariners play the New York Yankees.

While Lewis still has a shot at winning the Idol crown, he wasn't the local contestant getting all the attention until now.

That honor went to Federal Way's Sanjaya Malakar. The 17-year-old was voted off the show three weeks ago.  Many people who watch the show agree his charisma kept him in the competition much longer than his voice did.

Lewis is mainly known for his beat boxing style. His rendition of Bon Jovi's "You Give Love a Bad Name" received rave reviews from the show's judges and fans.  But he got less than stellar marks last week by adding his personal flair to two Barry Gibb songs. He ended up in the bottom two, but survived to next week.

And for the ladies who suddenly swoon at his presence, Lewis says, "I'm single and bound to mingle."
