Tacoma conference on mental health care for military veterans
08:38 AM PST on Monday, January 22, 2007
TACOMA, Wash. - A Defense Department task force is meeting today and tomorrow at a Tacoma hotel to examine mental health care issues in the military.
It will hear from those who work at Madigan Army Medical Center and take comments from the public.
Officials are concerned about the service members who'll need help after their combat experiences in Afghanistan and Iraq. Many military families also need help coping with the stresses of long deployments.
Previous hearings have been held in other big military communities at San Diego and in Virginia. The task force will report in May to Congress.
