SEATTLE - Investigators spent Saturday canvassing the Rainer Valley neighborhood, where a 14-year-old boy was found dead Friday.
The body of DeChe Morrison was found Friday afternoon, a day after neighbors heard shots fired in the area. Police do not know if the boy was shot there or if the body was dumped.
Detectives still have no suspects in the case, but Morrison's family is speaking out.
"I still haven't seen the body," said Tanjineka Thompson, Morrison's mother.
The memories of her murdered son are almost more than she can bear. Morrison was found dead on the 4200 block of Rose Street.
"Words can't even describe it right now - I'm just at a loss of words about the situation," said Sedric Reine, the victim's uncle.
Morrison lived with his uncle Reine for four years. He left about a month ago.
"For the last couple of months he had just went a stray and started rebelling real bad," Reine said.
Reine says he was supposed to be staying with another family member, but hadn't heard much recently about his nephew until he got news of his death.
A makeshift memorial now stands where Morrison's body was discovered. Just down the street, homicide detectives were interviewing neighbors and looking for potential witnesses.
"I feel sorry for that little kid ...14 going on 15, he didn't even get a chance," said James Giri, a neighbor.
SPD's gang unit is in involved in the investigation, but there's nothing at this point to connect Morrison to a gang.
But all his family wants right now is to say goodbye to the smiling, loving and troubled boy they loved.
Morrison is the second one-time Cleveland High School attendee to be murdered this year.
Allen Joplin was shot to death at a party a little more than a week ago.
No arrests have been made in that case.
