Bend man dies when 4x4 truck flips on highway

BEND, Ore. -- A Bend man died Thursday morning when his vehicle slide off Highway 97 about three miles north of the central Oregon city.

David L. Burchem, 32, died when his truck flipped north of Bend.
David L. Burchem, 32, was driving northbound on Highway 97 near milepost 131 when his Dodge 4x4 pickup slid off the east side of the highway and rolled on its top, Oregon State Police said.
Burchem was not wearing his seatbelt.
He was partially ejected from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police.
A passenger, 25-year-old Justin M. Mayes of Bend, was wearing his safety belt and was not injured, troopers said.
Speed and slick conditions were contributing factors to the accident, according to police.
