PORTLAND - A suspect in a violent home invasion robbery in August has been arrested, his child taken into protective custody and a cache of illegal drugs and money seized.
Washington County sheriffs showed up at the home of Robert Elvis Lummus, 32, on Wednesday at 5:30 a.m. to conduct a search related to an August home invasion in Banks, in which four people were tied up and three physically assaulted.
Sheriffs believed the robbery victims were targeted for drugs and money from drug sales. Their home was licensed by the state of Oregon for growing medical marijuana.
Lummus, who is a licensed medical marijuana user, had 5.5 pounds of dried marijuana, 37 mature plants and 18 immature plants growing on his property, located on SW Farmington Road near SW Tile Flat Road in an unincorporated area of Washington County. Under law, he was only able to possess six mature plants along with the 18 immature plants and 1.5 pounds of dried marijuana.
Sheriffs seized the excess amounts along with two guns, a stolen motorcycle and more than $5,000 in cash.
Lummus has been charged with 15 counts of robbery, assault and unlawful sexual penetration in connection to the Banks robbery. He is being held on a $250,000 bail.
While conducting the search sheriffs also arrested Jason Robinson, 23, on charges unrelated to the robbery.
Three children, including a 4-month-old child, were found in the house, in conditions that caused officials concern. Two of the kids were turned over to family members and the baby was placed in protective custody.
Detectives also located 13 pit bulls on the property that appeared to be in poor health. Animal control evaluated the dogs but left them with residents on the property for the time being with a feeding and caretaking plan.
Another suspect in the August robbery, 41-year-old Tammy Lynn Feliz, was arrested on Nov. 7 and charged with 10 counts of robbery and assault related to that crime. Her bail is set at $1 million.
Officials say there are still several suspects they’re looking for in the Banks robbery. Anyone with information is urged to contact Washington County sheriffs. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to their arrest and conviction.
