Downtown Portland shaken by small quake

PORTLAND - An earthquake rattled downtown Portland Sunday evening at 9:34 p.m.

The quake was initially reported as a 2.6 magnitude event centered at SW 5th Ave. and SW Madison, less than one block from Portland City Hall.

The quake originated ten miles underground.

Residents as far away as Milwaukie, Oregon City, West Linn and Lake Oswego reported feeling the quake.

In the first hour after the quake, more than 1,500 people reported feeling movement on the USGS seismic event web site.

There were no immediate reports of damage.
