Painting stolen from Portland art gallery

PORTLAND - The exhibit at Launch Pad Gallery in Southeast Portland is called "Secrets" but the real mystery is who stole a painting right off the gallery wall.
It's called "Sleeping with Santiago." The 12 by 12 painting is made of acrylic and ball point pen.
Someone took it off the gallery wall sometime Friday night between 10:45 and 11pm.
The gallery director said the warehouse was crowded yet no one saw anything suspicious. He said stolen artwork is more common than he thought.
"I was surprised to learn after the fact that small paintings do get taken from art galleries. Obviously, it's not good publicity that work does get taken from your space but we're really interested in getting the work back rather than saving face for the gallery," said Ben Pink.
The inspiration of the painting is a secret, which goes along with the exhibit's theme. It's valued at $200. The artist, Jennifer Mercede, is just at the point where she can earn a living selling her work. Since the piece isn't insured, losing it hurts her financially.
The gallery director said he wants the painting back, no questions asked. He said as long as it's returned, the person who stole it can remain a secret.
A reward is being offered.
