Timberline Lodge getting a facelift

GOVERNMENT CAMP, Ore. -- Workers were starting some much-needed preservation and maintenance repairs at the historic Timberline Lodge Tuesday morning.

Timberline Lodge
The chimney on the northwest end of the building will be completely rebuilt to bring it up to current seismic codes. In addition, the front steps of the lodge will be replaced.
Timberline officials said the work will likely take about seven weeks and detours will be in place during construction but the lodge will remain open for all of its usual September and October services.
The Timberline Lodge is registerred as a national historic landmark.
