The Mazda car was totaled in a crash overnight Tuesday.

ONTARIO, Ore. - A 15-year-old boy police say stole a car in New Plymouth overnight is dead.

Officers say the Treasure Valley boy stole a Mazda and drove at a high rate of speed through SW Idaho and over the border into Oregon, where he crashed the car south of Ontario.

Two men were in a separate car behind the boy when he crashed.  Juan Gonzalez, 20 pulled the teen from the car’s wreckage and took him to Holy Rosary Medical Center in Ontario.  Medics then took the boy by Life Flight to a Boise-area hospital where he died.

Police say Gonzalez and his passenger knew the deceased boy.

Gonzalez is in police custody on several unrelated felony warrants out of Ontario.
