COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - A northern Idaho school board will consider placing restrictions on books after parents raised concerns about what their children are reading.

The Coeur d'Alene School Board plans to decide if parental permission will be needed for students to read certain books.

The books include "Fallen Angels" by Walter Dean Myers, "Dancing at the Rascal Fair" by Ivan Doig, "The Chocolate War" by Robert Cormier, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" by Maya Angelou, "Snow Falling on Cedars" by David Guterson, and "Beloved" by Toni Morrison.

Mary Jo Finney, a parent, also wants speakers at the school to submit audio and video recordings to be reviewed ahead of their appearance.

She said she's also concerned about what's being taught in health class.
