PORTLAND – The Timbers no longer have star midfielder Diego Valeri on loan, since the Argentinian striker signed a multi-year contract Tuesday.
Valeri has four goals and eight assists this season, making him one of Portland’s top scorers. He has already matched the Timbers MLS record with his 53 total shots.
He also made the MLS All-Star roster.
Valeri was acquired by the Timbers on loan in January from Lanús. Per MLS and Timbers policy, terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Sports Illustrated’s Grant Wahl reported on Twitter that the transfer fee was a little less than $3 million.
