PORTLAND, Ore . (AP) -- The Portland Timbers tied the San Jose Earthquakes 1-1 in their final game of the MLS season.

The Timbers failed to make the MLS playoffs but the one silver lining on the season came when Portland secured the Cascadia Cup against the Vancouver Whitecaps last Saturday.

San Jose forward Chris Wondolowski scored his 27th goal of the season, tying the MLS single-season record set by Roy Lassiter of Tampa Bay in 1996.

San Jose has already secured its second Supporters' Shield and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. It is the final regular-season match for both teams.
