PORTLAND - Portland Timbers defender Futty Danso was suspended one game by the MLS and fined an undisclosed amount for hitting Houston forward Calen Carr across the head during a tackle late in Tuesday's 0-0 draw at Houston.

The incident happened in the 82nd minute and video replays show that  Danso appeared to punch Carr on the play.

Danso will serve his suspension Sunday when the Timbers host the Chicago Fire 4 p.m. at Jeld-Wen Field.

The MLS Disciplinary Committee also fined and suspended FC Dallas midfielder Brek Shea for three games for deliberately kicking the ball at an assistant referee in the Dallas game against Columbus last Saturday.
